What is organic certification in Türkiye?

The certificate you need to sell your product as “organic” in Türkiye, issued by bodies authorised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Who issues organic certificates?

How does the process start?

The producer or business applies to an authorised body with the records and documents appropriate to its activity; after a contract is signed, it enters the control system.

Is a Turkish organic certificate enough to sell organic in the EU?

No. The EU market applies the rules of Regulation (EU) 2018/848; in third countries these controls are carried out by bodies recognised by the European Commission. Details are on the EU Organic page.

Does VORCETT currently offer services in this programme?

No. This programme is in preparation at VORCETT; no service is offered until the relevant authorisation, recognition or approval processes are complete.

What does organic agriculture mean?

In Türkiye, organic agriculture is carried out under Organic Agriculture Law No. 5262 and the related regulation. The Ministry states that organic activities are carried out on the basis of a contract with an authorised control and certification body.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry describes organic agriculture as a production system in which every stage from production to consumption is controlled and the final product is certified. The producer or business applies to an authorised body with the records and documents appropriate to its activity and enters the control system after the contract.

The Ministry’s Authorised Body Audit Instruction lists ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation, its scope and validity among its audit topics. Accreditation does not replace Ministry authorisation. For application conditions and deadlines, the current legislation and the Ministry’s announcements prevail.
